Today a friend and I discussed this topic in length. What is unconditional love when it comes to spiritual beliefs-Biblical principles, the Word of God? Do we not have anything to do with a person who does not believe totally in the Bible? Do we divorce ourselves from the person who has a sexual orientation that we believe the Bible teaches against?
When it comes to a family member do we dismiss them from our lives or do we extend unconditional love to them? If we extend unconditional love then how are we to behave? If we feel strongly about a conviction and they are not living up to the standard we believe the Bible teaches – what should our reaction be.
Does God loves unconditionally? We love Him, because He first loved us. Do we put our heads in the sand due to doctrinal differences? Do we believe ourselves to be better because we think we have a handle on “exactly what is the right thing?”
As family and friends – what do we do? Do we discriminate in our love? Do we say….I love you if…..? I would like to hear from you.
I do believe that we are meant to love everyone unconditionally. Yes, there are going to be people that don’t believe the way I do or think the way I do or even raise their family the way I do. It isn’t my job to judge them. We are all sinners and we all have the opportunity to witness to people. Whether it be through words or actions. People can’t come to Christ if we don’t witness to them or someone doesn’t tell them about Christ. I feel honestly that I would be missing out on a lot of blessings if I didn’t interact with other people. Just because they are this or that doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve the same opportunity that I had to learn about God and his Word.
I am probably missing the point though. I am not sure. lol.
But, that was my thoughts on that.
p.s. I am glad you are back to blogging I have missed you.
I agree with you. One of the things I am reminded about is the commandment God gave us in the New Testament, and this is to ‘love one another.’ I love to read I Corinthians 13, the love chapter, if you get a chance read it in the Amplified Bible. Good hearing from you.
