It’s beginning to look like Christmas

I thought we might have some snow but we only had flurries. Our area is in a drought situation so we desperately need rain or snow. I wouldn’t mind 6-8 inches of snow for Christmas, everything so clean looking. I love snow cream.
Our house is decorated for Christmas and all the gifts for our grandchildren have been bought. We are doing less this year and it feels good to have things done early.
The year my Mom died (December 7th) we had a great Christmas, as neighbors and friends brought gifts and food. However, the next year, no one came and my dad had not bought one thing. My oldest sister had him get the grocery store owner to open up his store on Christmas Eve. It was blizzard conditions outside when we got to the store. The three youngest, myself included, stayed in the front of the store by the front door. We were freezing, the wind was whipping under the door. Girls back then wore skirts and knee high socks. My sister, along with my Dad, went through the store to find gifts for us.
While they were going through the store, I was sniffling, out of sorrow. What a miserable time this has been. Dad (who was drunk again) and my sister had gotten into an argument, the store owner was trying to get home to his family. We had Christmas the next day but the joy was taken out of Christmas with our Mom not being there. My sister tried real hard to bring the Holiday to us even though she herself was grieving.
Perhaps you know of a family that you could help this Christmas. Small things in life matter. Maybe a senior who is all alone could use a visit from you. Enlist the entire family to share Christmas Season, visit a local nursing home and bring some sunshine into their lives.
Merry Christmas.
